Oh my! You know how invitations just flood in during spring for all sorts of fabulous events? Well how many times do you end up having to pick and choose which event to attend when you have multiples for a single night? Drama!
Busy Daddy and Lazy Dad run in terribly chic New York City circles and rub elbows and eyebrows with the fashion/art/society world all the time. I was granted a lovely invite to a fantabulous gallery opening tonight at which there would be many of the biggest and brightest boldface names attending. I had been looking forward to this event for weeks! It also, to my surprise happened to be the kids “Spring Concert and Art Show” evening at their school.
What to do, what to do, what to do. Well, with Business Papa in Jakarta for a fortnight and realizing that sending the kids with the ganny as a proxy might not be so great for chapter twelve of their tell all book, I was thrilled to attend their festivities.
The event ended up being star-studded and a press orgy, and by that I mean there were absolutely no stars there and OF ALL THE RIDICULOUS THINGS there was NO step and repeat!! I mean, come on, has it come to this? I’m actually attending events with NO step and repeat.
Eboy was excited to show me his “pinch-pot”, adorable! Miss Lily had a tiny painted tile on an equally tiny easel which was so pretty. But my favorite was her floral fishtail picture, truly inspired. There were also several installation pieces which oddly reminded me of the days at Area (when I used to be an actual club kid).
The concert began with the orchestra, meh, they were alright. After three songs the band was next. A bearable event, and the one that Miss Lily had organized a rehearsal for earlier this week. The stars of this show are always the choir. The music director selects amazing songs and the kids always get uproarious applause. At least they understand the golden rule of close with your best act!
-Glamorous night in the city in designer shoes, $4,375.00.
-Workout at the gym day of event, included in membership.
-Attending the kids spring art show and concert, (I have to say it) priceless.
